Who We Are

The Big Pine Cemetery District is made up of dedicated members from the town of Big Pine, relying on the united support of the entire community to maintain a dignified, picturesque, and deeply historically significant asset that will continue to be cherished for generations to come.

Board of Trustees

The Big Pine Cemetery District Board of Trustees is appointed by the Inyo County Board of Supervisors to administrate both the Crocker and Woodman cemeteries through budgeting, maintaining, and improving operation. This governing body plays a crucial role in ensuring that they are managed effectively and responsibly. By overseeing the budget, the Board of Trustees can allocate resources where they are most needed, whether for maintenance/repair tasks or for implementing improvements. Their dedication to upholding the standards of these historical sites helps preserve them for future generations to appreciate and honor.

Volunteers

Volunteers play a crucial role in honoring and preserving the legacy of our town's history and residents. Events such as placing flags on Memorial Day, improving memorials, or enhancing records for genealogical research rely heavily on the dedication and hard work of these volunteers. Their commitment ensures that we properly commemorate the sacrifices of our veterans, maintain the integrity of our memorials, and accurately preserve the stories of those who came before us. By generously offering their time and expertise, volunteers contribute significantly to the collective memory and historical significance of our community, fostering a sense of unity and continuity for generations to come.
