First Burial at Woodman
The first burial at the Woodman of the World Cemetery was Giovanni B. Cometti. Born in Italy in 1843, naturalized in Amador County in 1880, and passed away August 19, 1917. John’s funeral was held at Hall’s Undertaking Parlor in Big Pine.
He was a well-known miner. He worked a claim in the Fish Springs area and it produced thousands of dollars in gold. His daughter, Teresa Aibertoli 1865-1932, is buried in Crocker Cemetery.
